HOW TO ACHIEVE HIGH LEVEL HEALTH
1. ENJOY LIFE! LOOK AFTER YOUR NEEDS. Look after your needs so well that even under stress or in difficult times you can maintain your health. Looking after your own needs is the obvious way to stay healthy. The result of doing this is happiness. It is your indicator that tells you that your needs are met. See the list of human needs at the bottom of the page. At times we must temporarily manage a sorrowful, fearful or safety threatening situation. This is sometimes the case and we cannot be expected to feel happy in times of sorrow. However, if these situations become permanent your health will suffer. Follow your heart not your mind and practice equanimity ( holding your balance and calm centre under all circumstances ). Cultivate Peace. 2.Oxygen. Get enough oxygen. Many people have hyperventilation or panic breathing as their default method. This means you are breathing in and out for the same count. This will not give you adequate oxygen for good health. Relaxed breathing , from a soft belly with the out-breath two or three times longer than the in-breath will ensure good oxygenation of the cells and organs. Water. Make sure you are drinking plenty of good quality ( preferably spring ) water. If you are thirsty you are already low on water. Drinking teas, coffees and alcohol and eating bread and cakes can help dehydrate the body. The exact amount we each need every day depends on our levels of hydration. Aim to keep it high. 3. Exercise. Find out which is best and most fun for you and do it, regularly. The body is designed for regular movement. Without it, we get sick. The minimum is, ten minutes of intense exercise to pump the heart and lungs and to induce mild sweating and then stretching in small sessions all day long. Stretch especially after any repetitive work, sitting for more than twenty minutes, sleeping, driving a car and sport. 5. Sleep. Getting a good nights sleep ( whatever that means for your particular body and mind ), is extremely good for your health. Lack of regular sleep interferes with hormone and nervous balance. |
